Muddy buddies, is a delicious and easy-to-make snack that combines crunchy cereal with a sweet, chocolatey coating. Adding hot cocoa mix (Zarcone Cocoa) brings an extra layer of flavor, making it perfect for cozy gatherings or as a delightful treat any time of the year.

Ingredients

9 cups of Rice Chex or Corn Chex cereal

1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter

1/4 cup of unsalted butter

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar

1/4 cup of Zarcone Cocoa hot cocoa mix of choice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cereal: Place the 9 cups of Chex cereal into a large mixing bowl. Set aside.
  2.  Melt the Chocolate Mixture: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and unsalted butter. Microwave the mixture on high for 30 seconds. Stir and continue microwaving in 15- second intervals until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract once the mixture is fully melted.
  3. Coat the Cereal: Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal in the large mixing bowl. Gently stir with a spatula until all the cereal pieces are evenly coated.
  4. Mix with Powdered Sugar and Zarcone Cocoa: In a separate large resealable plastic bag or a large container with a lid, combine the powdered sugar and Zarcone Cocoa mix. Add the chocolate-coated cereal to the bag or container. Seal and shake until the cereal is fully coated with the sugar and cocoa mix.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Spread the muddy buddies onto a large baking sheet to cool and set. Once cooled, serve in a bowl for snacking or store in an airtight container for later.

Tips

Variations: You can add mini marshmallows, crushed peppermint candies, or nuts for extra flavor and texture.

Storage: Keep the muddy buddies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
